PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION: 

The Powered Component Applications Engineer will work with both sales and customers in the selection and control of roller drives and drummotors.  

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The following job functions are not all-inclusive.  The employee will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the supervisor.  Job duties may change as required by needs of company.

•                Gather pertinent information from sales and the customer on their application.

•                To help determine which powered product(s) and controls would be best for their application.

•                Uses programming knowledge and experience to adapt equipment to specific job applications.

•                Prepares application notes, including wiring diagrams and control functionality, to help customers install and operate Interroll’s equipment.

•                Help support control related questions regarding PLC programming and VFD operation with regards to the powered components.  

•                On occasion, to provide onsite support for both controls and, in some cases, mechanical issues related to the application and operation of the power components and related controls.

•                To provide web based as well as in person training for the power component products.  This would include both sales and customers.

•                Must be able to conduct test in a control and logical manner including gathering and summarizing test results.

•                Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge of engineering and programming including electronics, mechanics, PLCs and VFDs.
  • Basic understanding of both brushless DC motors as well as three phase and single phase asynchronous and synchronous AC motors. 
  • To have knowledge of material handling applications and equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and related software.  Knowledge of Siemens PLCs (Profinet) a plus.
  • Must be organized and be able to manage multiple projects.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

This position receives some supervision and instructions from Supervisor.   Incumbent’s work is reviewed often by supervisor. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

This position has no supervisory responsibility. Provides proper training to workers to implement operating procedures, safety protocols, and avoid system malfunctions.

 

INTERACTION WITH OTHERS:  

This position interacts frequently with Supervisor, sales, customers, and production personnel.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB:  

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  Incumbent must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.   Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the industrial facility and must be able to travel by air both domestically and internationally.  

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

This position works indoors in a manufacturing (warehouse) environment.   Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold. This position is occasionally exposed to oil, grease or dirt, and to the risk of electrical shock.  A loud noise level is typical for the work environment of this job.
