The Engineering Services Technician - Lab Support provides technical assistance to project engineers with design, build-up, assembly, instrumentation, and test execution of customer qualification programs, internal research and development (R&D) efforts and experimental evaluation of advanced technology.
Essential ResponsibilitiesThe Metcut Research Corporation is responsible for providing customer data for both Research and Development and Qualification runoff programs. These tasks along with experimental evaluation of materials and their performance are completed in support of numerous industries including Aerospace, Land Transportation, Oil and Gas and many others.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and internal clients, focusing on instrumentation and testing for both standard and specialized test specimens.
- Operate servo-hydraulic test frames equipped with MTS 458’s and FlexTest controllers.
- Manage test data processing through MS Excel and other software platforms.
- Perform calculations, recording, and verifying testing standards, as well as calibrating and setting up complex test stations.
- Conduct measurements using various inspection techniques and tools.
- Maintain lab support equipment and workspaces.
- Repair defective equipment as needed.
- Assists Laboratory Professionals and Engineers in project planning and all testing performed.
- Managing laboratory projects that extends beyond the direct scope of testing processes.
Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma. An associate's degree in a technical and/or relevant test or engineering experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Familiarity with the assembly and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with the use of measurement devices and data acquisition.
- Willing to travel locally between both company locations.
- Possess a proactive approach and the ability to adapt to diverse laboratory tasks independently, underscoring the importance of versatility and initiative in this position.
