Overview

The Manager, Product Engineering for Dry Type Transformers oversees the engineering activities related to the design, development, and improvement of dry type distribution transformers. This role is crucial in ensuring that dry type transformers meet stringent performance and safety standards. The Supervisor collaborates with manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to enhance product efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure that production timelines are met. Through team leadership, this position drives the development of dry type transformers that meet the evolving needs of the market. This role will be responsible for overseeing Engineering Teams in various ERMCO locations in the United States. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product engineering team in the design, development, and improvement of dry type transformers.
  • Ensure engineering projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all technical and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to streamline production processes and resolve technical issues.
  • Guide the development of innovative design solutions to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Develop and implement strategies for design for manufacturability, streamlining the transition from design to production and minimizing production challenges.
  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive engineering documentation, including design calculations, specifications, and test reports.
  • Conduct technical analyses and simulations to validate design choices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage the engineering change process, from initial proposal through implementation and documentation.
  • Advocate for the importance of manufacturability in design meetings and decision-making processes, ensuring a balanced approach between innovative design and practical production considerations.
  • Engage with customers and sales teams to provide technical support and gather feedback for product improvements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, providing guidance and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with a focus on power systems or transformers.
  • Extensive experience in the design and development of dry type transformers 
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering principles, thermal management, and insulation systems.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading technical teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and certification processes.
  • Skilled in the use of electrical design software and simulation tools.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
  • Commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technological advancements in the field.
