Your Impact
- Will work under the guidance and mentorship of Senior Engineers working closely with various Earth & Environment Team staff in the design of mechanical and pipeline systems across the mining industry, including complex multi-discipline engineering projects and field engineering services
- Review and develop technical calculations, engineering designs, equipment sizing, data sheets, specifications, and P&IDs.
- Provide engineering support to mechanical and pipeline studies, including design of mine process plant systems, pump stations, mechanical systems and associated facilities.
- Coordinate between different engineering disciplines to ensure the effective implementation of the system designs.
- Support project funding documents such as cost estimates, equipment bid summaries and authorization requests
- Assist in field project coordination, engineering services and troubleshooting with direct client interface under the supervision of senior engineer
- Assist with writing and/or reviewing technical reports
- Support proposals in response to client request for proposal
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Will travel to project sites primarily in Arizona. Approximately 10% overnight travel.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1 to 3 years years experience working in the mining sector, heavy industry or similar
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
- Experience with discipline-specific design software, including AutoCAD
- Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in Arizona. Approximately 10% overnight travel.
- Must pass background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Good problem solver with ability to identify alternative solutions.
